Hello, I would like to say thank you, I have enjoyed viewing several items from my past. I worked in the plant in Athens as well as my wife,her mother and her father. I actually think my mother worked there for a little while as well. One of the pictures you have here is actually one of my mother-in-law, she is finishing a cabinet in the picture...excellent. Hi I just found your site and have been loking around. seing this brings back memories of going with my dad shopping for a TV set back in the 1980's most likey 84 or 85. We were a working class family that didn't have alot of money. We never at that time owned a new TV. it was always used stuff from other family or the classified ads. none of those ever lasted real long and I remember my Dad wanting a new one and to be done with all the junk.. The evening we got the Curtis Mathes console TV we had been to several rent to own places and he was not happy with either the sets they had to offer or the payment terms. I remember that the CM show room was new in York Pa on Loucks Road and I suggested we go look in there. I remember his being unsure because CM was an elite brand but we ended up buying it on weekly payments. Later after the TV was paid off we got a CM VCR. both I remember lasting very long. the TV lasted my parents over 12 years with no repair. it did need one repair after CM had went under. I was moved out by then but I remember my dad took it someplace that fixed it eventhough the parts were hard to locate. sadly it only lasted a few more years before it broke again and I'm not sure what happened to it. THe VCR was a tank too I remember the dealer having us bring it back in every year during warrany for cleaning and a check up. I wish we still had companies like CM that made a quality lasting product in the USA. its a shame we sold out to Asia and now mosty China for our electronic goodies. Today with Jobs hard to find having those jobs back home would be nice

I have two Curtis Mathes TV's that I bought new in the late 1990's that I no longer use, but they are in perfect condition. They were manufactured in Oct. 1999 and are model CM 19001. Is there a market for them? How much should I ask? Thanks.

On the home page, you say, on a particular cabinet, that a friend made the shelves. I have that same piece of furniture and it has the EXACT spacing of shelves inside it for storing vinyl. Confused.

My husband and I just purchased a flat screen tv because the curtis mathis (which was given to us 20 years ago by a friend whose mother owned it and since died) tv we had was starting to have trouble with the verticle hold and color. Hi Barb, You could try to place an ad on Craigslist or EBay. I will see if anyone knows someone in your area that would like to have your 1980?s Curtis Mathes TV. A top of the line Curtis Mathes color console TV from the early 1980?s would be worth about $600.00 to $800.00 to a collector if everything was still working. You would need to find a collector in your area that would like to have her. The more mint she is the better having the original paperwork is a plus. If you can send some photos I can tell you more. Sadly the economy is so bad at this time for vintage electronics. If you can hold onto her for a few years she will be worth a great deal more. Sadly the average man on the street today will only give you around $100.00 for this piece of early 1980?s Texas history. Yes please send some photos and where you are located..:) Just look at what Sparton Blue Bird radios are selling for now. Back in the early 1960's folks were throwing these radios in the trash. If you can send some photos I will be glad to post them on the site. Perhaps someone would want to add your console to their collection.
